Ed Baron has been one of the primary workshop leaders for the Readership Institute's programs for the past four years.

He was an award-winning newspaper and radio journalist before pursuing a career on the corporate staff of Gannett Co., Inc. He spent eight years on the company's staff, including five in corporate human resources. His work there included in-house consulting on a broad range of human resources, training, and management development programs for journalists and others.

He has headed his own training and consulting firm for the past ten years. His current assignments include design and delivery of programs for advertising agencies and newspaper sales representatives; as well as programs in circulation, readership, business literacy, strategic planning, and computer-based management simulations.

His work has taken him across North America and to South America, Western and Central Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Before starting his own firm, he was Director of New Ventures for the American Press Institute (API), the mid-career training center for the newspaper industry. There he was responsible for API's company-specific seminar and consulting services, and its Executive Development Program, which he continues to present. Before joining API, Ed was a vice president of Sterling Institute, Inc., a Virginia consulting firm.

He has developed and presented workshops, simulations and other programs for most major newspaper groups and many individual newspapers and trade organizations.

He is a member of the International Newspaper Marketing Association and the Newspaper Association of America.

Baron has a B.A. from State University of New York, Buffalo and did graduate study at New York University.
