5 Ways to Incorporate Trendy Pieces into Your Style

Fashion changes every season, but most women aren’t able to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Fortunately, there are fun ways to keep your style current that won’t bankrupt you. From trendy accessories to head-to-toe outfits, check our five tips to help you update your look effortlessly. You’ll look like you’ve been to a personal stylist, and your friends will be asking you for help putting outfits together.

1. Look at the Runway

For inspiration, look no further than the runway. Fashion magazines can help, whether online or in print. Check out the most recent season’s Fashion Week shows and make notes on the trends that made a big splash. For example, in the Spring 2018 shows, mixed patterns were hot.

2. Shop your Closet

Before you do any shopping, look through your wardrobe and find pieces that go with the current trends. This would be especially easy with the mixed patterns trend: most people have at least two patterned items of clothing in their wardrobes. Many pieces have classic silhouettes and fabrics that will go with anything. Others may be items you’ve worn once and haven’t had the reason to wear again. Going through your closet is also a great opportunity to remove things you truly don’t need and donate them to charity.

3. Accessorize

If you can’t buy a lot of clothes, you can probably afford some cute accessories. Visit the mall or a discount store and look for inexpensive pieces to give your wardrobe a little kick. Accessories are a great place to add a trendy twist without looking too crazy. For example, fringes were popular on the Fashion Week 2018 runway. You could add a fringed purse or a cute pair of boots without laying out too much money.

4. Use Color

A subtle way to update your wardrobe is by using the most popular colors of the season. Try to find simple layering pieces in these colors to add a trendy touch to any outfit. Mix different shades of the same color in one outfit for a monochromatic effect.

5. Less is More

If you’re really looking to make an impression, copying a runway look is a great way to do it. Most women are looking for ways to have fun by updating their existing wardrobes, not to make a spectacle of themselves. Adding one or two fashion-forward touches to an otherwise ordinary outfit will brighten it up and bring you a smile. Shoes, a handbag, a scarf, or jewelry are great ways to incorporate trends without going too crazy.

You don’t have to be a runway model to wear the latest trends. Look through clothes you already have, find fun accessories, and take advantage of color to pull your wardrobe together.
